I celebrated one of the monumental numbered birthdays this past week. I have never minded turning a year older, I love to celebrate birthdays mine included! We enjoy traveling around the time of my birthday, so this year we drove down to the Florida Keys. It was our first visit there and we stayed at the amazing Cheeca Lodge and Spa on Islamorada. The resort is finishing up an extensive remodel after Hurricane Irma blew through last September.
We spent one evening enjoying a beautiful sunset dinner at the restaurant Marker 88 located on the bay side of Islamorada. The Marker 88 has been in operation since 1967 and has with stood the test of time and many storms.
As the sun was beginning to set and the rays filtered through the soft billowing clouds I began taking photos. I saw my first wild green iguana near the shoreline. Shortly after I photographed it, I was amazed to see it climb over the rocky shore and swim over to the safety of this lone mangrove tree.
